Every homebrewer needs bottles and you can never have too many. Even if you brew in barrels, it's nice to put some away and bottle it for a rainy day... or Christmas of course! The ultimate in homebrew bottling is swing top bottles. These handy Grolsch style brown 500ml swing top bottles are the best; easy to use, easy to clean and no replacement caps to keep buying. If someone bought me a set of these for Christmas I would be delighted. They won't break the bank from Home Brew Online either, coming in at under £20 for a case of 12.

During the colder months, it can be difficult to keep your fermenting vessels at the correct temperature. This is essential to ensure that not only does fermentation start but also that it ferments completely and that all of the sugars are converted to alcohol. This will leave you with a good, clear and correctly carbonated brew with the correct alcohol content. The best way to achieve this is to heat your fermentation container. The fermenting vessel heater tray shown here is a great way to do this and for the price, under £30, makes a great gift. You can buy a heater tray here.
For a discussion on heating fermentation vessels and in particular brewbelt heaters, also see our article on using a brew belt.
